MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – July 25, 2011 5:00 PM

Jean Jinks – Tattler advertising fees will be as follows:  1/8 page $5.00

Valerie reported her findings with her Timber Trails inspection:
Single cots are supposed to be 6 ' apart with 40sq ft of floor space per camper
They are 18" apart in a building of 260 sq ft with 8 people (that’s too compact)

Eric stated that the state did an inspection and approved of the placed of the cots. The placing was approved as long as the children were head to toe.

Valerie informed the board of a complaint that she had received relating to the smell of chemical fumes when entering WPOA. Valerie gave the board a copy of Mass General Law Chapter 111 Section 143 (Trade or employment attended with noisome and injurious odors; injurious to their estates, dangerous to the public health, or may be attended by noisome) for their review

Frank Fazi, President of WPOA also stated that it had come to the attention of the Board of Directors of WPOA that several property owners near the property of 4 Meadow Drive have concerns with the possibility of health hazards and possible violations of zoning.

The Board of Selectmen will request that the property owners of 4 Meadow Drive attend their next Board of Selectmen’s meeting on Monday, August 8th at 5PM. A letter will be sent to include the Zoning By law and the Mass General Law.

Valerie stated that the responsibility for performing site suitability assessments and for permitting all transfer stations, regardless of size, back to MassDEP from the Board of Health.

Frank Fazi, President of WPOA submitted a letter regarding deed restrictions. WPOA is requesting adding another zone to the town zoning map, allowing the WPOA section to have some additional restrictions. The letter will be given to the Planning Board.

Jackie and Richard Dziedzic of 16 Meadow Drive have concerns that his easement given by the Town of Tolland states him as an individual not the properties trust. The easement that was recorded will be review by legal counsel.

Shirley Warner speaking on the behalf of the Tolland’s Ladies Aid has scheduled a fund raising tag sale to take place on Saturday, October 8th with a rain date of October 9th.

Shirley also wanted to be sure that the Board of Selectmen were aware of the events taking place on August 13th (Family Day).

 Shirley will meet with Police Chief, Munson to discuss Police coverage.
 Clubhouse Road will be closed.
 Tolland Fire Department will be selling Hamburg’s and Hot Dogs
  Ladies Aid – drinks
 Cultural Council – selling Gran-val Scoop Ice Cream

The town reviewed and approved the following Change Order Requests, # 5 for VCT tile and carpet tiles to be installed at the PSC at a cost of $11,432. # 9 for replacing rotted wood jambs at DPW overhead doors at a cost of $3,412. # 10 to eliminate pressure treated strapping at DPW for a credit of $2,870. and #11 custom color for three overhead doors at the PSC at a cost of $3,982. Total cost for changes $15,956. The revised contingency balance after changes is $36,442.

Board of Selectmen set a $10 fee for a “Bathing Beach”
